When Hanna Glas, who signed a contract last year with the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is asked what her 5-year-old self would think about where she is now, her eyes sparkle and a smile spreads slowly across her face. “It wasn’t a reality at that time,” the Swedish-born footballer answers. “I couldn’t have dreamt this was possible to achieve.” Similarly, few people could have imagined Glas’ team unveiling the world’s first stadium built specifically for a women’s professional sports team.
